A Bit About m.k.

m.k. smith is currently a graduate student at Ohio University studying to receive a master’s in photography from the School of Visual Communication. Before landing in Athens, Ohio, m.k. grew up in central Minnesota where she learned the art of shoveling snow and swatting mosquitoes. After receiving a bachelor’s degree with a dual major of Psychology and Biblical and Theological Studies from Bethel University, she packed up her Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight and headed to the Windy City to pursue her passions of photography and acting. A short stop on the beaches of South Florida helped m.k. realize hot sun in November was not for her, she donated the Olds, packed up a rented Pontiac Grand Am, and back to Minnesota she went, until leaving in the fall of 2006 for Ohio.

Though not one to crave the traditional meal of ‘hotdish’ from her Minnesota upbringing m.k. does believe her “Minnesota Nice” will never fade away. And after years of dreaming and thought she is pushing forward with her goals of being a working film maker, actress, and visual storyteller. So come, read, and enjoy her kinetic musings that emerge along the journey.

  1. Hey there M.K. I really love all your work!

My name is Tiffany Wilson and I am currently getting a degree in Photojournalism and doing a senior paper on the subject of Mulitmedia. I would love to interview you about some different issues that come up with this new type of medium for storytelling. I wouldn’t take any more than 20 minutes of your time and I would greatly appreciate your opinion!
